Lucille's Obituary
Lucille Ann Kunst, 98, of Eau Claire, MI, passed away on Sat. Sept. 30, at the Timbers of Cass County. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Lucille was born on Oct. 5, 1924 in Sodus, MI, to the late Fred and Ida (Hafer) Hauch. On Dec. 13, 1941, Lucille married Edward Kunst; he preceded her in death on April 30, 2007. Also preceding Lucille is a sister and five brothers.
Lucille and her husband fruit farmed for many years. After working nineteen years in quality control for Sodus Wilderness Food, she retired as a Lab Technician and Supervisor. Lucille was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sodus, and had also been active in the Ladies Aide.
Lucille enjoyed taking care of her beautiful flowers around her home. She baked and decorated beautiful wedding cakes for all five of her grandchildren. Lucille also crocheted afghan’s for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucille loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Lucille is survived by two daughters – Karen (Kevin) Bailey and Joan Hires both of Eau Claire, MI; four grandchildren – Douglas (Dawn) Schlipp, Deborah Weir, Chuck (Elizabeth) Hires and Terri (Brian) Riemland; fourteen great-grandchildren – Tiffany, Levi, Hillary, Zachary, Hailey, Isaac, Kyle, Callie, Natasha, Eric, Megan, Darci, Leslie and Stacy; and many great-great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her son – Daniel Kunst, a granddaughter – Amy Oviatt, and a son-in-law Charles Hires.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sat., Oct. 7, 11:00am, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – 3713 Naomi Rd., Sodus, MI, with Rev. Robert Duehlmeyer officiating. Visitation with the family precedes the service from 10:00-11:00am at the church. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor, MI.
