Louise's Obituary

Louise Mammina Larzelere, 94, of Benton Harbor, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 26, 2024 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 5, 2024 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware, Benton Harbor, with Fr. John Peter Ambrose officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, February 4 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with The Rosary recited at 4:45 P.M. Memorial donations in Louise’s name may be made to St. John-St. Bernard Parish or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Louise was born February 23, 1929 in Benton Harbor to Joseph R. & Ella (LoPresti) Mammina. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School Class of 1947 where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She also enjoyed singing and was a member of The Belle Chords girl’s quartet. On June 23, 1956, she married A. Pat Larzelere at St. John’s Catholic Church in Benton Harbor. Louise served as the bookkeeper for Advance Limo & Cab which she and Pat operated for nearly fifty years. She was a member of St. John-St. Bernard Parish in Benton Harbor. Louise & Pat enjoyed square dancing every chance they had. She made her own dresses and they traveled across the country with their travel trailer to dance, Fontana, North Carolina being their favorite place. Louise also had a love for animals and owned many cats over the years, along with her favorite dog Lucky. She also enjoyed collecting shells on the beaches whenever she could and used them to make beautiful, unique figurines. She devoted her life to her Church and most of all, enjoyed the time spent with her loving family and many friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Louise is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Pat; her sister Madeline (Ronald) Batson of St. Joseph; brothers-in-law Craig (Mary Carol) Larzelere of Griffin, GA, Scott (Beverly) Larzelere of Dowagiac; nieces & nephews-Michael Batson, Michelle (Tim) Spitale, Deb (Roy) Youngren, Jennifer Batson, Tammy Batson, Joseph (Sara) Batson, Melissa Batson, Tanya Mohr, J.R. Mammina, Michelle (Bill) Froehlich, Dale (Dawn) Killarney, Chip (Kara) Larzelere, Mimi (Dan) Eckert & Christy (Brian) Pritchard; numerous great nieces & nephews; and two great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother & sister-in-law Benjamin & Georgia Mammina and her niece Shaune Mammina.
