Louis “Lou” Wesaw, 82, of Dowagiac, passed away on, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel and Cremation Services.
A Celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 12:00PM at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Louis was born September 2, 1939, in Dowagiac to Fabian and Alice “Nellie” (Alexis) Wesaw. He worked as a welder for over 22 years for Smith Hoist Manufacturing in Cassopolis before his retirement. Louis was a “jack of all trades”, he could often be found in his workshop making many things. He enjoyed spending time outdoors loved to golf every chance he got. Louis was a great bowler which earned him the nickname “Sweet Lou”. Louis was a likeable guy who was funny and known as a jokester. Most of all he loved his family and will be greatly missed.
Louis was survived by his children, April (Bryan) Wesaw-Huggins, Susan Mason, Tina (Butch) Starrett; step-son, Pudge Morseau; son-in-law, Scott Shepard; grandchildren, Megan “Mahogan” Shepard, Andrew Shepard, Christina (Eric Franch) Barger, Doug (Natalie) Barger, Corey (Messina) Wade, Justin (Brandy) Morseau, Sarah Means, Erin Means, Justin Means, Whitney Patterson, Maddie Payne and Sydney Huggins; great-grandchildren, Adrien, Riley, Averie, Ethan, Tyler, Lauren, Jayce, Robert, Terry, Alexa, Cash, Kaston and Easton; and brother, Duane Weissew. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Carey Morseau; grandson, Terry Wesaw; siblings, Rinehart Wesaw, Loretta Yount, Jim Wesaw, Sharon Winters, Karen Winchester and Marsha Wesaw.
