Loretta's Obituary
Loretta Ruth Braley, 88, of St. Joseph, MI, went home peacefully to be with her Savior on Friday – May 5, 2023 in her home in St. Joseph with family by her side. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Loretta was born on Feb. 21, 1935 in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Wilbert and Mildred (Rutz) Kuehl.
Loretta was a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph High School. On June 9, 1956 in St. Joseph at the Trinity Lutheran Church she married the late William Edgar (Ed) Braley; he passed away on Jan. 18, 2001. Loretta was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She attended all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities right up until the time of her passing. She also enjoyed camping, boating, and Lake Michigan, but most of all she loved spending time with her beloved family. Loretta was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stevensville – and was a devout follower of Christ. She instilled her Christian faith in her family.
Loretta is survived by three children – Mark (Sharon) Braley of Grand Prairie, TX, Sharna (Terry) Pelkey of St. Joseph, MI and Laura (Adam) DeKreek of Stevensville, MI; ten grandchildren – Ashely (Kris) Kinsey, Chelsea (Daniel) Hallford, Colby (TJ) Emsley, Eric (Ally) Braley, Karyn Braley, Kevin Braley, Autumn (Brett) Gundersen, Meghan Pelkey, Anna Pelkey, Tyler (Sam) DeKreek; three great grandchildren; and a brother – Alan (Nancy) Kuehl. She is also preceded in death by her son Eric Braley.
Private family services will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stevensville, followed by committal services at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville, MI 49129.
