Lorene's Obituary

Lorene E. Dickson, 98, of Sister Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Buchanan Meadows in Buchanan.

Lorene was born on April 28, 1923, in Chicago to George and Anna (Lanning) Fockler. She graduated from Harford High School. On June 26, 1949, she married the love of her life, William Kenneth “Ken” Dickson in South Bend. Lorene worked in the banking business in South Bend and Dowagiac, and later earned her real estate sales and broker licenses and joined her husband in their family business, Dickson Real Estate (a/k/a ReMax) in Sister Lakes. She and her husband owned and operated the business for many years.

Lorene loved music and spending time with family and friends. Lorene was known for having a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh that could light up the room. She had a passion for baking, and her pies were often sought after by family and friends. Lorene was a life-time learner, avid reader and she loved to travel in the U.S. and abroad. Her church and being a Christian were important to her. She was a long-time member of Sister Lakes Community Church. Most of all she loved her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.

Lorene is survived by her children, Karen Dickson and Kevin Dickson and grandchildren, Olga Dickson-French and Luda Dickson-French. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken Dickson; siblings, Vernon Smalley, Bob Smalley and Paul Fockler; and her son-in-law, Daniel French.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 1:30 PM at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens Chapel, 61453 M-51, Niles with Pastor Doug Cuthbert and Pastor Scott Stambaugh officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the Chapel.
