Lois's Obituary

Lois Mae Speck, 84, of Dowagiac, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Elkhart Meadows in Elkhart, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel in Dowagiac.

A Celebration of life service will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 1:00PM at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St. Dowagiac. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, from 12:00PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Lois’ name may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association. Lois was born May 24, 1937, in Battle Creek to Leo and Ardis (Root) Gillespie. She attended and graduated from Dowagiac High School. On September 3, 1966, she married Sam Speck. Lois was a factory worker for many years at Muskegon Piston and then was a lunch aid for Kincheloe Elementary before her retirement. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and like to play bingo and cards with her family. Most of all she loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Lois is survived by her children, Don (Pam) Haley, Jr. and Darlene (Jimmie) Thomas; grandchildren, Angee (Todd) First, April (Matt) Rosanovich, Amanda (Jeremy) Lindley, Johnathon Woolsey, Eric (Ashley) Woolsey, Marc (Jennifer) Lewandowski and Matt (Holly) Lewandowski; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy (Harvey) Adcock, Thelma Smith, Nancy Bettner and Betty Speck; and son-in-law, Alan Lewandowski. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Speck and daughter, Deborah Lewandowski.
