Linda May “Cookie” Shugars, 72, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 12 PM at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur, with Pastor Mike Heflin officiating. A private burial will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Home Hospice, 8075 Creekside Drive, #120, Portage, MI 49024-5390. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.newellchapel.com.
Cookie was born on July 9, 1949, in Watervliet to Bert & Viola (Mead) Shugars. Being a life long resident of Decatur, Cookie made friends with nearly everyone in town. She loved playing jokes on people and putting smiles on as many faces as she could. She enjoyed knitting and making pot-holders. Cookie was also a proud member of The First Church of God in Decatur.
Cookie is survived by her siblings, Charles Shugars, Ron Shugars and Mark (Debbie) Shugars; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert & Viola and her sister, Esther Bolinger.
