Len's Obituary
Leonard “Len” J. Casario, Jr., 78, of Stevensville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at his home with his family around him.
Leonard was born on June 30, 1944, to Leonard & Angela (Parrino) Casario in Latrobe, PA. He graduated from Latrobe High School and received a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Ferris State University. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he proudly served his country and was honorably discharged.
On September 10, 1983, Leonard married Martha “Marty” Brockman in Peoria, IL. Leonard worked for the former Whirlpool Appliance Buyers Credit Corporation and Barclays Bank prior to opening a UPS store. Leonard and Marty moved to Wheaton, IL where they raised their two children, Brian and Adam. In 2015, Leonard and Marty moved to St. Joseph where they planned to slow down and enjoy the many friends they had made through the years when visiting Fred and Jan Polmanteer at Round Lake.
Even though semi-retired, Leonard stayed busy by working at Family Farm and Home in Benton Harbor and at the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center as a Circuit Training Room Coordinator. He also served on the Board of Directors at the Center and as a volunteer involved in many projects, including the planning of the walking trail. A British sports car enthusiast and avid golfer, Leonard also loved attracting birds to his backyard. One of Len’s favorite activities was to sit in his backyard watching the birds while listening to music and enjoying great food prepared by Marty. Leonard did not know a stranger and made many good friends everywhere he went.
Leonard is survived by his wife Marty; children, Brian (Habtamnesh Alemneh) Casario of Chicago, IL and Adam Casario of Champaign, IL; grandchild, Buruk Casario; and sister Sylvia Mueseler of Latrobe, PA. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents Leonard & Angela Casario and brother-in-law Donald Mueseler.
The family would like to thank Caring Circle Hospice at Home and Marty’s sister, Jody Valente, for the care given to him at home.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date. All family and friends will be notified of the time and location.
