Laura's Obituary
Laura Jean Goodell, 73, of Lawton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at her home in Lawton. She was born October 15, 1949 in Dowagiac, MI to John Orias and Elaine (Emery) Anderson.
Laura spent the majority of her life doing what she loved, which was all things horse related. When she was younger, she enjoyed competing, and later in life, reveled in taking her family and friends for rides in the buggy. Also when she was younger, she spent time with her father flying, times which she spoke of often and fondly. Laura was a very talented quilter and knitter. Her family remembers many quilts made, especially with barn themes. She also enjoyed racing any kind of car, Nascar, drag, and circle tracks being among the favorites, and watching the Chicago Bears. But her greatest love in life were her family, especially her grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Foxy. Laura’s family will remember her for always being active in her children and grandchildren’s lives.
She is survived by her husband, Philip Goodell, whom she married July 22, 1967 in Decatur; her children, Sandy (Bill) Menck, and John (Lisa) Goodell; her grandchildren, Cole (Taylor) Menck, Zackery Menck, and Gunnar Goodell; and her siblings, Buddy Hannah, and Candy (Molly Foster) Anderson. She is preceded in death by her sister, Ginger Messner; and her parents.
Services for Laura will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be given to Gentiva Hospice, www.gentivahs.com.
