Larry Eugene Macek, 81, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at his home in Decatur.
A graveside service with military rites will be held on at 2:30pm, Friday, July 8, 2022 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.
Larry was born April 17, 1941 in Decatur to Rudolph and Arlene (Branch) Macek. He was given the nickname “Festus” because of his beard, during his younger working days, and was well known by that name ever since. On August 9, 1969 he married Janie Gossett. Larry was an avid woodworker; he enjoyed making many toys, often to give away, but did keep a version of each toy he crafted.
Larry will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Janie Macek; his children, Christopher Gossett and Kenneth (Debra) Macek; his grandchildren, Kenneth Macek, and Lisa Macek; his brother, Charles (Jo) Macek; and his nephew, Chuck (Becky) Macek and their family.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Karry Macek; and his parents.
