Larry's Obituary

Larry LaBar of Hartford, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on December 22, 2023 with his loving wife Janice by his side after a brief and fierce battle with cancer. Larry was born December 30th, 1944 in Gary, Indiana to Henry and Lois LaBar.

He grew up in South Haven, Michigan and after graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. Larry had a deep passion for all things Harley Davidson. He lived for his annual motorcycle trips with friends exploring different parts of the country ever since 1993. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Larry retired from Whirlpool in 2003 after 30 years where he worked in contract railroad transportation.

Larry is survived by his wife Janice, sister Linda (Tim) Ignelzi, brothers Tom Rice and Patrick Rice, son Chris LaBar, daughter Brandi Dietz, and stepdaughter Sarah (Nick) Arkanoff. He was blessed with seven grandchildren; Cassidy, Christopher, Ashton, Samantha, Lucy, Grayson and Poppy and two great-grandchildren; Adelyn and Beckhem. Larry is also survived by his best friend, Rich Braunz and his cherished dog, Cornbread LaBar.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers William and Charles (Randi).

A Celebration of life is being planned for 2024. Memorial contributions in Larry’s memory can be made to Caring Circle Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
