Kenneth's Obituary
A real true gentleman Kenneth David Newell Jr., also known as “KD” was born on October 18, 1976 to the union of Kenneth Newell Sr and Delores Ann Wims in Saint Joseph, MI. He quietly carried his lit torch and closed a huge chapter of his life story on September 29, 2023.
Kenneth Jr accepted Christ at an early age at Trinity Baptist Church which he served as a member of the youth choir. His soft tenor voice could be heard across the isles of the church grounds following the footsteps of his grandfather Deacon Newell. He attended Chicago Public Schools briefly, but Covert Public Schools is where he excelled tremendously at the sport of basketball. Kenneth Jr also had his hands full and an eye for the ladies due to him being a thick-ems chaser.
Kenneth Jr had a passion for throwing down in the kitchen and firing up that grill, cutting hair for the elders at the Civic Center, and working on cars for individuals who really needed his helping hand.
Kennth Jr leaves to mourn his two children Daren and Talia Newell, and a very precious grandson Jhy’Meir all of Kalamazoo MI! His parents Kenneth Newell Sr of Covert MI; Delores (Donald R.) Walker of Grand Rapids MI; Grandmother Pattie Newell of Covert Michigan; siblings Christine, Patricia Newell (Grand Rapids, MI), Liberty, Moses, and Neveah Newell (Covert MI). A host of nieces and nephews, Shondel Tereak, Jesus, Dejon, Keantn’e, India, Ra’Niya, Candis, and Prince. Special childhood friends, Willenna Juicey Williams of Columbus Ohio; Fred Walker of Covert MI; Bernard Foster of Kalamazoo MI; and Tremaine Hoover of Chicago Il. A host of aunts’ uncles, cousins, family, and friends.
Kenneth Jr is preceded in death by his beloved younger brother Shondel Soloman Newell; grandparents: David and Anna Wims; and Deacon Soloman Newell. KD is loved and definitely will be missed by an abundance of family and friends.
