Kathy's Obituary
Kathryn I. “Kathy” Smith, 63, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on September 6, 2022.
Kathy was born on January 25, 1959, to Donald & Lela (Sliter) Ridenour in St. Joseph. She graduated from Lakeshore High School, class of 1977, and then continued her education at Grand Rapids Community College. Kathy worked as a home health aide before her retirement. She enjoyed art, collecting trinket boxes, and was known as the cat whisperer.
Kathy is survived by her siblings, Karen (Dr. Thomas) Kirkdorfer of Stevensville, Denise Haynes of St. Joseph, Donald Ridenour of Benton Harbor, Richard (Julie) Ridenour of Stevensville, and Ruth Ridenour of Tampa, FL; and nieces and nephews, Dr. Kraig (Kathryn) Kirkdorfer of St. Joseph, Kimberlee (Nathaniel) Baldwin of Louisville, KY, Jessica Mahan of Paducah, KY, Rachel Turner of St. Joseph, Lindsey (Dr. Michael) Denuyl of Three Oaks, Shane (Caroline) Ridenour of St. Joseph, Alexis Ridenour of Kauai, HI, and Phillip Ridenour of MI.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Phillip Ridenour.
A celebration of life gathering will take place on September 18, 2022 from 1-5 PM at Tryon School: 912 E John Beers Rd., St Joseph, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Society of Bipolar Disorder, PO BOX 396, Monroeville, PA 15146, www.isbd.org.
