Kathleen A. “Kathy” Rush, 68, of Berrien Springs, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 10AM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Tom Peppel officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 4PM until 6pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Caring Circle, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph. Kathy was born on November 24, 1953, to Carl & Rita (Brown) Peppel in Benton Harbor. She graduated from Berrien Springs High School and then continued her education at Davenport University- South Bend where she earned her associates degree. Kathy worked a few years at Leco Corp where she met her husband David Rush, marrying each other on January 7, 1977. She then owned and operated an at home daycare for four years before she started her clerical position at Great Lakes Eyes care where she worked for 20 years. In Kathy’s spare time she enjoyed quilting and sewing. She enjoyed researching her family ancestry. She also loved to garden and complete puzzles, but her most cherished time was spent with her family.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Rush; children Bradley (Michelle) Rush of St. Joseph and Carrie (Jake) Deitrich of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Landon Rush, Aiden Rush, Claire Rush and Olivia Deitrich; siblings Linda (Bill) DeFord of Hartford and Karen (Andy) Potter of Fredericksburg, VA; mother-in-law Elvira Rush of Hartford; and brothers-in-law, Jerry (Sharon) Rush of Coloma and Jim (Peggy) Rush of Hartford and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Rita Peppel.
