Karla's Obituary

Karla J. Giannola, 64, of Benton Harbor passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Spectrum Health Lakeland. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 8, at 1 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Father James Morris officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 7, from 5 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Michigan Catholic School Fund. Karla was born on March 2, 1958, to Karl & Dorothy (Kraklau) Grinewitzki. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1976. On March 29, 1981, Karla married the love of her life, Joseph Giannola, in Las Vegas. Karla’s passion was traveling. She began working for a travel agent right out of high school and six years later she and Joe bought it from the owners. She loved spending time tending to her beautiful flower garden, boating up and down the St. Joseph River with family and friends, and traveling up north to Beaver Island. Karla was an incredible lady who will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Karla is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Joe; children, Lindsay Giannola, Michelle Giannola, Tracey (Chris) Giannola-Smith, and Matthew Giannola; and sister, Joyce Vogt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl & Dorothy; sister, Sandy (John) Russell; and brother-in-law, Steve Vogt.
