Joseph “Joe” A. Genovese, 79, of Benton Township died Friday, March 31, 2023.
Family services will be held at a later date and cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the SW Humane Society. Joe was born on June 15, 1943 in Benton Harbor to Joseph, Sr. and Elsie Genovese. He married his wife, Leta, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage until her death in 2017. Joe was a truck driver, but also did many other things. His hobby was buying and selling cars even if he did not make anything on the transaction. Joe was a very frugal person. He loved to have coffee with his friends at the different coffee shops in the area. Joe never met a stranger and always made a friend. He liked to joke around and was a very social person.
His family includes his sons, Jeffery (Nancy) Genovese of Coloma, and James “Jay” (Lisa) Genovese of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Alexander (Raven) Genovese and Kaitlyn (Jon) Hopkins; and one great-grandson, Courtland Genovese. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Genovese.
