Joe's Obituary

Joseph D Sage (Joe) was born and raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan December 14, 1933 to Cora and Joseph Sage. He was married to Shelby Baushke in 1958, and was widowed in 1989. They raised four children together.

Joe served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, serving as a communications specialist in Korea.

Joe worked for several years at the Herald Palladium, and was also self-employed as a farmer, television repairman, and antenna installer.

Joe was a very charismatic and social person; he was never at a loss for conversation with friends or total strangers. He was skilled at repairing mechanical and electrical equipment. He was known for instigating shenanigans with his buddies, and he had a constant sense of humor.

To sum it up, Joe did things his own way. He was stubborn, caring and helpful, and he was a troubleshooter as well as a troublemaker. He was the life of any party.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sis Sommerfeldt, his wife, and three sons (Joseph, Donald, and Samuel.) He was survived by his daughter Laurie, two daughters in law, and four grandchildren.

No memorial services are presently planned. If you find yourself in Chiefs in the near future, please raise a glass to Joe. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www-starks-menchinger.com.
