Dr. Jorge Monges, 93, of Stevensville, MI, formerly from Long island,NY, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at Crown Point in Stevensville.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 P.M., Friday November 19, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Pastor Tim Pietrogallo officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Friday. A private burial will be held at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital or Habitat for Humanity. Those wishing to share a memory of Jorge online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com
Jorge was born May 20, 1928 in Torreon, Mexico to Ulises & Soledad (Irigoyen) Monges. Jorge graduated from Medical School in Mexico City. On August 8, 1956 he married Evelyn Swanhild “Swanny” Halvorsen in Brooklyn, NY. Jorge was a Doctor for Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, New York for many years. He loved the Lord, his daily devotional, and the senior fellowship at The Chapel, St Joseph. Jorge enjoyed going to the St. Joseph Lincoln Senior Center, spending time outdoors, golfing, Zumba, and playing his harmonica . Above all, Jorge cherished his family.
Jorge is survived by his children Clifford (Paula) Monges, Cynthia (Rob) Allen and Daniel (Jennifer) Monges; grandchildren Russell (Alexandria) Monges, Jeffery (Amanda) Monges, Mandy (Nathan) Kahne, Samuel Allen and Marcie Allen; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and beloved family members. Jorge was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn “Swanny” Monges, and sister Marina Kasten.
