John's Obituary

This is in loving memory of our Dad, John Henry Landeck, who left our Earth three months ago on May 16, 2023, but remains deeply with us in our hearts and spirit. Our Dad was born on August 21, 1929, in Homewood, Illinois, to Paul Landeck and Mary Landeck. John was the seventh of eight children, the younger brother of Howard, Robert, Charles, Gladys, Marian, and Dolores, and older brother to Virginia. As a young man, John was very athletic, hardworking, and fun loving. He was gifted with a beautiful tenor voice for singing, which he loved to do. His favorite tenors were Jan Peerce and Mario Lanza. John married Marion Joanne Main in 1952. Together they raised four children: Cynthia, Jonathon, Valerie, and Charles. Our loving Dad was kind and thoughtful, and always involved in our lives as children, particularly for school, sports, and hobbies. John had six grandchildren (Nathan, Kristin, Ellen, Spencer, Alice, Connor) and three great grandchildren (Elli, Norah, Sam). Our Dad was also loved deeply by his daughters-in-law (Pamela Wright and Kathryn Mintz) and sons-in-law (Richard Payovich and Michael Chaddock). Over the course of his working career, John was a milkman, electrician, plumber, and pump technician. Our Dad loved to play sports with us, make pizza, roast potatoes in open fires, and watch comedies on television. He was a funny man, always ready to laugh, and he possessed a very sharp mind even until his final days. We think about our Dad every day, and we miss him greatly. He outlived nearly all his siblings, may they all rest in peace, and he spent the last 30 years of his life near his children, grandchildren, and their families, living peacefully and in relatively good health in St. Joseph, Michigan.
