Jerry's Obituary
Jerry was an amazing husband, father, brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend to everyone. Jerry was loved by many and brought humor and sarcasm wherever he went. He loved and adored his family and friends. His spirit was selfless and infectious. Always willing to lend a helping hand or be someone you could talk to and count on during a time of need. He was a very special person that has now gained his ‘angel’ wings and will continue to touch our hearts from above.
Jerry was born on March 22, 1984, to Thomas & Jean (Daday) McDonald in Berrien Center. He attended Brandywine High School and then continued his education at Lake Michigan College earning his Journeyman Mold Maker certificate. On September 8, 2022, he married Caitlynn Murdock, whom he loves to Pluto and back.
Jerry was a veteran of the Armed forces, serving as an SPC E4 in Afghanistan. As a decorated officer he received an Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, NATO Afghanistan Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and his service in Afghanistan from 2009-2010 was designated an Imminent Danger Area.
Jerry was an avid University of Michigan fan and enjoyed playing golf. His favorite time was spent with his family, especially with wife and his children. You could often find him in his favorite reclining chair watching a documentary, crime show or baking show eating sour gummy worms.
Jerry is survived by his wife Caitlynn; children Ethan Merrill (15), Serenity McDonald (10), and Tucker McDonald (5); father Thomas McDonald Sr.; sister Elizabeth (Dustan Dushuanack) McDonald; nieces and nephews, Xoey & Chloe McDonald, Morgan, Ward & Keilyn Cheney; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Jean McDonald (2020) and brother Thomas McDonald II (2013) .
