Jerry's Obituary

The Lord carried Jerry Lynn Akins, 78, of Benton Harbor, Michigan home to be with Him the afternoon of October 31, 2021 while he was surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born in Hayti, Missouri on September 24, 1943 to Blanche and James Akins. His love for our Lord Jesus is what carried him through life, along with a love of hunting and fishing. Jerry is a post-polio survivor, this led to a life-long disability that did not hold him down. He worked many years in the tool and die industry both at Paramount Die Cast, and Hoffman Die Cast. He also spent years working at Heath/Zenith. He is a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Benton Harbor.

A Celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Brother William Hughes officiating. Friends can visit at the funeral home 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
