Jerome's Obituary

Jerome Bledsoe, 80, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

A Celebration of Homegoing Service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Full Gospel Tabernacle, 1800 Territorial Rd., Benton Harbor, with Bishop R.L. Jones officiating. Private burial will take place at Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 3:15 PM prior to the service at the Church. Jerome was born December 4, 1941 in Turrell, Arkansas to L. C. & Geneva Bledsoe. On October 5th, 1966, he married the former Laura Haskin in Turrell Ark. Jerome was employed for many years at Auto Specialties. After retirement he worked for BJ’s Party Store in Benton Harbor. Jerome was a member of Mount of Good Shepherd Church under the leadership of Pastor Tommy Vaden. He was a people person, always had a positive attitude, very generous and always willing to help those in need. In his free time, when Jerome was younger, he had a passion for working on cars, and he loved it. He cherished the time spent with his family and many friends. Jerome loved his family, and especially his grand and great-grandchildren, Jerome had a funny relationship with them, he was known for grabbing the kids by both cheeks and pulling back and forth, and all the kids loved it, he was very funny. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jerome is going to be missed by his wife Laura Bledsoe, eight sons-Jackie Haskins of Kalamazoo MI, Donnie (Evelyn) Bledsoe & Genard Bledsoe of Benton Harbor, Shamal (Renata) Bledsoe of Belcamp, MD, Jeffrey Bledsoe of Topeka, KS, Craig (Rashia) Bledsoe of Cleveland, OH, Jerry Bledsoe of Blytheville, AR, Odell (Liz) Bledsoe of Osceola, AR; three daughters-Sabrina Bledsoe of Kalamazoo, MI, Del Bledsoe of Memphis, TN & Delois Crayton of West Memphis, AR; a host of grand & great-grandchildren; brothers & sisters-Willis “Junior” Bledsoe of St. Louis, MO, Samuel (Louvenia) Bledsoe, Ruby (Ariskar) Gulledge, & Lillie Hall of Benton Harbor, Corrine Bledsoe, Elizabeth Redd, & Shirley Bledsoe of St. Louis, MO, Carolyn Bledsoe of Harvest, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerome was preceded in death by two sons-Larry & Ray Bledsoe, and a brother Clarence Bledsoe.
