Jeanne was born on December 1, 1950, to Richard & Julia (Radde) Krieger in Benton Harbor. She graduated from Bridgman High School in 1968, then continued her education at Lake Michigan College earning her Registered Nursing Degree. She worked for Mercy Hospital and Berrien General as an RN for 13 years before she had to retire early due to a foot injury. After retiring from nursing, she focused her time on supporting the family farm. On September 7, 1974, Jeanne married the love of her life Donald Spitzke in Bridgman. In Jeanne’s free time she enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and making delicious meals for her family. She loved gardening and took pride in her gardens over the years, her husband Don would always say “she’s out playing in that dirt again”. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and showing in so many ways how much she loved them. She extended her love to her children’s friends and was known by many as “Momma Jean”. Her motherly love was spread to so many over the years.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald Spitzke; children, Angela (Jeremy) Slater of Portage, MI, Matthew (Andrea) Spitzke of Niles, and Andrew (Maggie) Spitzke of Baroda; grandchildren Dion & Shiloh Slater and Jonah Nitz; and brother Loren (Midge) Krieger.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Julia Krieger.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 269-556-9450.
