Jarod's Obituary

Jarod James Knuth formerly of St. Joseph, passed away unexpectedly Saturday February 4, 2023 at his home in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Jarod was born May 29, 1989 in St. Joseph to Sally (Schwoebel Knuth) Huling and Dennis Knuth, graduating from St. Joseph High School, in the class of 2008.

He was a manager at Guitar Center of Kalamazoo for 3 Years where he facilitated the largest acquisition of a vintage guitar collection in one transaction. Jarod then went on to work for Brammel Supply for 2 years while continuing to pursue his musical passions, playing in his band, By Jr. In 2019 he landed his dream job at Heritage Guitar Co., working his way up to Production Control and Scheduling Manager.

In the simplest terms, Jarod loved music - playing it, collecting it, writing it, but mostly sharing it with all the people he loved. He was a talented “maker” and could build just about anything (with a little help from YouTube); guitars, computers, amps, furniture, anything he put his mind to really. His sense of humor was delightfully quirky, witty, and clever. He loved antiquing, a really good cup of coffee, BLT’s, Diet Coke, Two Hearted, Father John Misty, Musicals, Podcasts, and the Beatles. Most of all, he loved Taylor Crow - his best friend and soulmate until the end.

Jarod is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sally and Jim Huling, his father Dennis Knuth, Brother Aaron Knuth, Sister Emily Knuth, Uncle John (Jack Whitlock) Schwoebel, Aunt Janet Rauschenbach, and cousins Todd (Sharon) Hocker, Steve Knuth, Charlie Knuth. He was preceded in death by his grandparent and three uncles.

A musical celebration will be held in his honor at The Livery, Sunday, February 19, from 4-8pm. Memorials can be made to suicide awareness and Lory’s Place. Those wishing to sign Jarod’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
