Janet's Obituary
Janet Jean Ridgeway, 86, of Stevensville, MI, passed away on Thursday – April 20, 2023 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Janet was born on April 14, 1937 in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Henry and Edith (Schermer) Gustine. On June 14, 1958 she married Kenneth Eugene Ridgeway. When their children were young, Janet volunteered at their school activities. She was a great cook and baker of cookies. Christmas time meant many arts and craft projects were made and enjoyed. Janet was the church organist and pianist at the Niles Road Community Church for many years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Janet is survived by her husband Kenneth; her children – Keith (Betty) Ridgeway of Irons, MI, Mark (Laura) Ridgeway of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Kali Ridgeway of Hartford, MI; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister – Delores Harper of St. Joseph; and a brother – Richard Gustine of Richmond, VI. She is preceded in death by a daughter – Susan, and a great grandchild – Sofia.
Visitation with the family is on Tuesday – April 25, from 12:00-1:00PM, at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service follows at 1:00PM. Burial is at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. Friends wishing to leave the family a message of condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com
