Janet's Obituary
Janet (Akmakjian) Crawford, age 59, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 7, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A Funeral Service will be held 9:00AM, Saturday, March 16 at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd., Stevensville, MI with Pastor Elise Edwardson officiating. Visitation will take place from 4:00 – 7:00PM on Friday, March 15 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Janet was born on August 12, 1964 to George and Siroun Akmakjian in Chicago, IL. She earned her bachelor’s degree as well as her master’s degree in education so that she was able to follow her passion for teaching. Janet taught elementary grades for 30 years, with the last 20 years spent at Eau Claire Public School.
Janet married the love of her life, John Crawford on July 7, 2001. Together they built their love for each other on the foundation of trust and love. God blessed them with a wonderful son, Michael Crawford. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother.
Janet was a longtime member of Stevensville United Methodist Church and greatly enjoyed spending time with her supportive and caring church family. She enjoyed scrapbooking, going to the beach, reading, listening to music, and taking pictures. Most of all, Janet loved her family and friends and cherished the many memories made with them.
Janet is survived by her husband, John; son, Michael Crawford; sister, Meline (Eric) Hancock; nephew, David Hancock; brother-in-law, Harout Bamboukian; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Siroun, and sister, Sona Bamboukian.
