Bosco's Obituary
A friend to everyone, Jenaro “Bosco” Ruiz went on to join his wife and his mother in Heaven surrounded by his loved ones July 12th, 2023 at age 69 in Niles.
Bosco was one of seven children born to Alvia and Lenardo Ruiz in 1954. He spent some early years in Texas but here in southwest Michigan is where he made his life. After high school he attended college at Southwestern Michigan College and was a die cast operator for many years. He married Lori Ruiz and together they had two children Jason (Amanda) Ruiz and Amy (Josue) Ramos. Although he and Lori divorced later in life they remained lifelong friends to the very end.
As time went on his cowboy boots were traded in for his signature bucket hat as he ventured into an early retirement, never really finding another niche after being laid off. He did, however, have a second chance at love and married Debra Carroll-Ruiz in 2003 and the two spent several years together before she passed away in 2007.
Bosco leaves behind his loving Dad Lenardo Ruiz, six siblings, Linda Gomez, Arnold Ruiz, Martin (Lorena) Ruiz, Virgina (Robert) Philips, Velia Koppenhoefer , and Angie Ruiz,. 5 grandchildren Sonya, Jason, Ricky, Dominic and Xoey and 2 great grandchildren, Skylynn and Jasmine.
Bosco spent much of his free time finding ways to make people smile and feel loved. This came in many small ways such as joke- (usually at his own expense), a game of PIG with his son, a gas station rose for his daughter on Valentine’s Day, or a pizza for a neighborhood kid on his birthday.
Although Bosco spent his life fighting the demons of substance abuse, he was the first one to admit his problems. Often seeking help from both God and man but never finding the strength to stay the path long term. When he wasn’t out causing trouble, you could find him being a handyman, tinkering, biking the town, or fishing. He spread his fishing knowledge, compassion and quiet charisma to his friends, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial to honor Bosco will be held at a later date. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com.
