Jim's Obituary

James W. “Jim” Lemley Jr., 68, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at his home.

Jim was born on June 19, 1954, to James & Joan (Maxon) Lemley Sr., in Lorain, OH. He graduated from Southview High School and then continued his education at Lorain County Community College where he earned his associate degree in police science. He worked as a Corrections Officers at Lorain County Sheriffs Department in Ohio until his retirement. On June 2, 1984, he married the love of his life Terrie Mihalko in Amherst, OH.

Jim was a Christian man who loved Jesus. He enjoyed singing in Barbershop quartet and supporting the Boy Scouts at camp as a health officer. He also was an avid Ohio State football and Cleveland Browns fan.

Jim is survived by his wife Terrie Lemley; children Janssen (Carol) Lemley of Waco, TX, Aaron (Rosemary Born-Powell) Lemley of Benton Harbor, Meredith (Michael) Johnson of Detroit and Spencer Lemley of Ann Arbor; and sisters Susan (Marty) Lemley-Gillespie of Centerville, OH and Marlene Garcia of Amherst, OH.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Christel Peace.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022, at 11AM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Philip Gargano officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 10AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Barn Church & Ministries, 4032 M-139, St. Joseph.
