James “Jim” Kriner

Jim's Obituary

Jim Kriner, 51, or Three Oaks, MI, passed away on Saturday – January 29, 2022 at Franciscan St. Anthony Hospital in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 North Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.

Jim was born on September 20, 1970 in Valparaiso, IN to Clarence and Eileen (Quinn) Kriner. On September 19, 1992 he married Sandy Kurz. Jim worked at the BP Refinery in Whiting, IN as supervisor of transportation; and currently for Alpha Baking in LaPorte, IN delivering baked goods. Jim’s hobbies included hunting and politics, and he was an avid University of Michigan Wolverine fan. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his wife – Sandy; children Brett Hiland and Katie Kriner; his mother – Eileen Spencer of New Buffalo; and sisters – Judi Wallace of Mishawaka, IN and Sharon (Richard) Jackson of Cleveland, TN. He is preceded in death by his father – Clarence Kriner.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Tuesday – February 8, 2:00pm, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Visitation with the family precedes the service from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Katie Kriner College Fund.
