Horst's Obituary

Horst Hansch,79, of Stevensville, was called to his eternal home in heaven on March 31, 2022. He spent his last month at Hanson Hospice Center with his family at his side.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Lincoln Township Cemetery on Tuesday, April 5 at 2:00 P.M. Horst was born on May 11, 1942 in Milanow, Kreis Luzk, Poland to Otto and Ottilie Hansch. In 1956, he, along with his parents and three sisters, immigrated to St. Joseph. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1963. He served in the United States Armed Forces from 1964 to 1966 and continued to serve in the United States Reserves first in Oakland, CA and later in Chicago, IL.

He worked as a carpenter and his hobbies included; woodworking, chess, stamp collecting and gardening. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Horst is survived by his three sisters, Elfriede Fitz of Benton Harbor, Erika (Bruno) Wendland of St. Joseph, Ingrid Schadek of Concord, CA and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents.
