He went on to serve his country and was a proud Navy Veteran. He married Lee Roth in Jonesboro Arkansas in December 1971. In 1976 he took his family on an adventure of a lifetime making their way across 13 states as part of the Bicentennial Wagon Train. Sonny spent most of his career in road construction and retired as a Superintendent at Arnt Asphalt in 2005. Once retired he lived a great life alongside his best friend and wife, traveling the country, making wonderful friends and always keeping family in the center of his heart. He was a proud father and grandfather, following his grandkids around the country supporting them in all of their activities. Everyone knew he was their biggest fan. Some of his proudest moments came recently when he watched his granddaughter get married and his grandson accept a pitching scholarship to Michigan State. He had a wonderful life, full of love and always surrounded by family.
