Helen Ann Schillinger, 83, of Stevensville, MI., passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Corewell Health Lakeland, St. Joseph.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 609 Court St., St. Joseph, with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will take place from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, December 26, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Helen was born on May 9, 1940, to Emil and Pauline (Modro) Wagner in Benton Harbor. She attended St. Matthew’s Lutheran School until the 8th grade and then went on to graduate from Benton Harbor High School, class of 1958. On September 5, 1959, she married Wilbur Schillinger at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Benton Harbor.
Helen was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, and has been a long-time member at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Joseph. She enjoyed sugary treats, especially cookies and pretzels. Helen always liked watching Fox News, followed by True Crime Shows. She was fond of lighthouses, playing card games, an avid Michigan State University fan and cherished time spent with her family and grand-dog, London.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Devereaux of Villa Rica, GA.; grandchildren, Hunter Devereaux and Kiley Devereaux; sister, Elizabeth Wagner; nieces, Lorry Wagner and Angela Wagner; nephews, Todd (Kathy) Radde, Scott Radde and several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Pauline Wagner; husband of 54 years, Judge Wilbur Schillinger; siblings, Lorraine Wagner, Walter Wagner, Donna Radde.
