Harry's Obituary
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 31, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma, with military rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Harry’s name may be made to Caring Circle Hospice in St. Joseph. Harry was born March 16, 1927 in Buchanan to Adolph & Caroline (Hebner) Hauch. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On October 5, 1947, he married the former Barbara Thomas in Berrien Springs. Harry was employed at DuWell Metals in Bangor while living there. Upon moving to Stevensville, Harry, in 1968, gained employment at Bendix Corporation as a machinist, retiring in 1989. Harry was an accomplished gun smith and was known across the country as an expert marksman, holding a world record. He was a life-member of the National Muzzle Loader & Rifle Association and a member of Michigan Muzzle Loaders and the Southwestern Michigan Metal Detectors. In his free-time Harry enjoyed tending to his gardens at his home and spending time with his grand & great-grandchildren.
Harry is survived by his son-Harry (Cheryl) Hauch, Jr. of Stevensville; his daughter-Donna (Jon) Holland of Benton Harbor; his son-in-law George Lamb of Minnesota; four grandchildren-Bryan (Kara) Lynch, Aimee (Mike) Radford, Stephanie (Jerry) Wills, Josh Jankowski; great-grandchildren-Aiden, Gavin-who was born on Harry’s birthday, Alyvia, Harper, Brandon & Lucy; two brothers-Robert (Pat) Hauch of Benton Harbor, Lee (Suzie) Hauch of St. Joseph; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded by his wife Barbara on March 20, 2011, his daughter Katrina Lamb in 2008, his sister Marion Hauch, his father Adolph, his mother and step-father Caroline & Arnold Kettlehut, and numerous canine companions.
