Harriet's Obituary

Harriet A. Gotsch, 104, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away, Friday, December 16, 2022 at Petrona’s Country Home in Baroda.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Christ Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, with Rev. Martin Measel officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Church. Private burial will take place at a later date at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harriet’s name may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Caring Circle Hospice. Harriet was born May 21, 1918 in Chicago, IL to August & Elsie (Domke) Unrath. She graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in Chicago. On April 27, 1940, she married Herbert Gotsch in Chicago. Harriet devoted her life to her family and their home and taking care of their needs. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine, IL where she served as the Head of the Ladies Altar Guild. After moving to Southwest Michigan in 1990, she joined Christ Lutheran Church where she enjoyed assisting with office duties and participating in the Church bible study. She enjoyed traveling with her husband on ocean cruises and bus tours to see the beauty and sights of the United States. In her free time, Harriet enjoyed cooking, baking and playing cards with her many friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Harriet is survived by her children-Laurel (William) Lentz of Baroda, Kenneth (Rosie) Gotsch of Arkdale, WI; four grandchildren-David (Tracy) Gotsch, Christopher (Courtney) Gotsch, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Lentz, Melissa (Ryan) Krycka; eleven great-grandchildren-Amber, Amanda & Morgan Gotsch, Peyton, Lucas & Ethan Gotsch, Jeffrey & Ella Lentz, Brooke (Luke) Simpson, Nevaeh & Colton Krycka; two great-great-grandchildren-Hadley & Marlow Simpson; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert on August 31, 1995, her grandson William Todd “Billy” Lentz, and her siblings-Dolores Razee & Warren Unrath.
