H. Gene Embree, 89, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel – 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI.
Gene was born on November 27, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Herschel and Verla (Chastain) Embree. On June 14, 1952 in Chicago he married June Baughman – they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past June.
Gene was a retired real estate broker and certified property manager. He worked with and then owned Teninga-Berstrom Realty for 40 years. He held the following offices and memberships: President of the Roseland Real Estate Board in Chicago; President of the Suburban Board of Realtors; Director of the Illinois Association of Realtors; Director of the National Association of Realtors; Director of the Chicago Board of Realtors; member of the Institute of Real Estate Management and received a Certified Property Manager (CPM) Designation; and a member of the Chicago Jacee’s.
Gene is survived by his wife – June; children – David Embree of Granbury, TX, Bruce (Claudia) Embree of McCormick, SC, Kenneth (Kelli) Embree of Lowell, IN and Donna (Isidro) Morales of Brownsville, TX; grandchildren – Daniel, Michael, Benjamin, Scott, Mark, Steven, Jordan Nicole and Ian; ten great grandchildren; and a sister – Leah Lehman of Venice, FL.
Visitation with the family is on Saturday – November 12, from 12:00-2:00pm at Starks & Menchinger Chapel in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will follow the visitation at Saron Lutheran Church – 510 Main St., St. Joseph, MI, at 3:00pm, with Pastor Joan Oleson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saron Lutheran Church or to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or to Paws of Hope.org Friends wishing to leave the family a message of condolence may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com
