George's Obituary
George Robert Wilder, 85, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 10, 2021 in Kalamazoo surrounded by family.
George was born June 23, 1936 at home in Hamilton Township, MI to Doyle and Beatrice (Hamilton) Wilder. George worked for 30 years at the Coca-Cola Foods plant in Paw Paw as a line supervisor until his retirement in 1994. Prior to joining the workforce, George served in the US Navy in radio and communications 3rd class on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CV-19), stationed in the Philippines where he met and married his wife, Felicidad Majestrado on April 21, 1960. After their marriage and time in the Navy, George and Felicidad (Fely) enjoyed country western dancing in Knoxville, TN, and traveling in their RV. George enjoyed CB/HAM radio, operating with the call signal “Claymore.” He also enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping with his family. He was an avid Detroit Lions fan, but he was the biggest fan of sports and other activities in which his grandchildren were participating.
George was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church as well as the VFW in Decatur. He will be remembered fondly as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Felicidad Wilder; his sons, Jeffrey (Teresa) Wilder, George (Joanie) Wilder, Jr., James (Kathy) Wilder, and Gary (Julie) Wilder; his grandchildren, Russell, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Bekah, Cailey, Alissa, Jessica, Annalisa, Arianna, and Aubrielle; and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his siblings; Harold Jay, Doyle Clinton Jr. and his parents; Doyle Clinton Sr. and Beatrice Lillian Hamilton Wilder
While no funeral service is currently scheduled, a celebration of life ceremony will be announced at a later date.
