Dubby's Obituary
George W. Russell (aka Dubby), 87, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. He was born July 9, 1936 in Manila, AR to William and Ruby (Arrans) Russell.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at North Shore Memory Gardens, 5027 M-63, Coloma. Memorial contributions may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, www.mda.org.
George was a graduate of Hartford High School, class of 1955. After high school, he served in the United States Army in the ballistic missile division. After the army, he worked at VM Corporation and Continental Can until his retirement in 1998. George was a loving caretaker over his wife, Barbara, and daughter, Susan, for many years. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports on TV, old movies, listening to 50’s music, and lunch dates with several of his old classmates.
George is survived by his brother, Kenneth (Ardith) Russell; many nieces and nephews; his best friend, Joe (Kathy) Oliver; special cousins; his sisters-in-law, Sharon and Ruth; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Susan Klitchman; his brothers, Alfred, David, Eddie and Danny Russell; his sister-in-law, Beezie Russell; and his parents.
