Andy's Obituary

GEORGE “ANDY” DAVIS, age 83, passed away suddenly on January 21, 2024 at his stone cottage in Brooksville, Florida. Andy was born on November 18, 1940 to Claude and Aileen (Looper) Davis and lived in South Haven, Michigan all his life. Andy lived his life with wisdom and used his many skills to serve others. He was referred to as “Handy Andy” for decades before he grew into the title of “Dad Davis” and “Grandpa” by many who were anchored by his stability and love.

Andy graduated from South Haven High School in 1959 and attended Lake Michigan Community College, leading him to a technical career at Heath Company and South Haven Coil before being drafted into the Army in June of 1966. Just prior to being deployed to Germany, Andy met and married the love of his life, Judy (Schemenauer) Davis. Andy is survived by his wife Judy. They had 57 wonderful years, their children Mark, Ken and Brian, and their grandchildren Hope, Caleb, Shiloh, and Olivia. His death was preceded by his parents and their son Mark.

Andy served in the South Haven community at Bohn Aluminum for 20 years, as an over-the-road truck driver and at Pullman Industries until his retirement in 2002. As an aviation enthusiast, he enjoyed civil air patrol as a child and grew up to own his own aircraft, giving over 400 airplane rides from the South Haven airport and serving on the airport authority board for several years. Andy & Judy shared their love of travel and camping with their family and friends, visiting nearly every state and camping every summer at Cran Hill Ranch. Andy’s steadfast devotion and love as a husband, father, and friend will be greatly missed, but his faith in Jesus brings hope to those who remain.

Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M - 1:00 P.M at Hope Church in South Haven. Funeral services will follow at the church at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Chambers Cemetery in Geneva Township. In leu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cranhill Ranch and OHA Missions-Michigan-Based Humanitarian Flights and Hope Church
