Gary's Obituary

Gary Bohnlein, 70, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, November 15, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at St Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St Joseph, with Fr. Arul officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 4:00 P.M.– 6:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Bronson Healthcare Foundation, 301 John St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007 directed to the Neuro Critical Care Unit. Gary was born May 18, 1951 to Louis & Lillian (Baumgarte) Bohnlein in Lima, Ohio. He graduated in 1969 from Lima Central Catholic High School and furthered his education with a B.A from University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Xavier University. Gary married Theresa Hennessy on August 10, 1974 in Cleveland, Ohio. He loved sports especially University of Cincinnati and West Virginia basketball. Gary enjoyed watching his grandchildren whether it be wresting, football, riding horses, or theatre performances. He never missed an opportunity to support their activities. Gary also loved camping with his family and was always willing to give a helping hand to any one in need.

Gary is survived by his wife Theresa; daughters, Beth (Brian) Tittl of Toledo, OH, Emily (Michael) Jacobs of St. Joseph, son; Chris (Joy) Bohnlein of Lisbon Portugal. Grandchildren; Ben & Becca Tittl and Chase, Brady & Grace Jacobs. Brother, Jim (Carolyn) Bohnlein, sister; Carolyn Campbell and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Dave Campbell.
