Garland “Virgil” Penley, 88, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Heritage Chapel and Cremation Service, 8747 US 31 Berrien Springs, MI 49103 with pastor Mac McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Monday, November 29, 2021 at the funeral home. Garland was born August 25, 1933 in Memphis, Arkansas to Garland & Rena (Wallace) Penley. He worked many years at Premier Die Casting in Berrien Springs. On November 15, 1953 he married Jennie Marie Rouse in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Garland enjoyed mowing his grass, going on drives with his family, telling jokes and his cats.
Garland is survived by his children Donald (Lynda) Penley, Peggy Ann (Junior) Weaver, Connie Wydra, Brenda Squires and Paul (Faith) Penley; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and siblings, Linda Fritag, Carl Penley, and Larry Penley.
Garland was preceded in death by his parents and wife and siblings Barbara Conley, Doyle Penley, Jimmy Penley, Harold Penley, Jerry Penley and Melba Smith.
