Gailya Louise Bell, 89, of New Buffalo, MI, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Trail Creek Place in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
Gailya was born on August 19, 1934 in Bloomingdale, MI to the late Guy and Lillian (Buckler) Haynes. She attended River Valley High School. On September 6, 1952 in Three Oaks, MI she married Norman Gene Bell; he preceded her in death on February 2, 2005.
Gailya is survived by two sons – Danny (Cheryl) Bell of Trail Creek, IN and Phillip (Sarah) Bell of New Buffalo; five grandchildren – Kim Lucker of Lake Station, IN, Angela (Troy) Dyer of San Antonio, TX, Amanda (Michael) Mashburn of Michigan City, Nathan Bell of Raleigh, NC and Katelynn Bell of Tecumseh, MI; great grandchildren – Daniel Lucker, Donnie Lucker, Zach (Taylor) Krotzer, Adrianna Papadatos, Victoria Papadatos, Lauren Papadatos, Melissa Papadatos, Michael Mashburn II and Adalynn Mashburn; and a great great grandchild – Elleah Krotzer. Also preceding Gailya in death are a son – James Bell, a daughter – Norma Eldridge, and a brother – Ronald Haynes.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, Nov. 17, 11:00am, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, with Pastor Kel Penny officiating. Burial will follow services at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Visitation with the family is on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 5:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
