Frank E. Buesing

Frank's Obituary

Frank Maranto Buesing was born November 19, 1940 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. He graduated in 1958 from St. Joseph High School and attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan and graduated with a B.S. degree in 1963. He was a member of Theta XI Fraternity. He taught at Benton Harbor High School and then entered the United States Navy, serving with VFP-62 at Nas Cecil Field Florida. He also served aboard the USS Forrestal.

After the service, Frank worked in marketing for International Harvester, IBM Corporation and Canon, U.S.A. In 2004, he retired from Thatcher Tubes, in Woodstock, Illinois. Frank moved to McHenry, Illinois in 1978 and returned to St. Joseph in 2008.

Frank was the son of Anthony Maranto, who died in 1942. He was the adopted son of Walter E. Buesing after his mother, Mary, remarried in 1946. Frank is survived by a sister, Mary Martens; brother, Wally Buesing, both of St. Joseph; two nephews, Jim Parker and Jeff Buesing; two nieces, Michelle Parker and Stacey Buesing.

Frank traveled to 77 countries throughout the world and 33 states. He enjoyed airshows, snowmobiling, boating, and flying in various WWII war planes.

Frank was a lifetime member of Lest We Forget, volunteered his time working at the Berrien County Courthouse and driving veterans to the VA Clinic in Battle Creek.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 10AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 Church St., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 4PM until 7PM, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A prayer service will be held at 6:30pm. Memorials may be made to the Alumni Fund at Western Michigan University. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may so do at www.starks-menchinger.com.
