Florence's Obituary

Florence Ella Hill, 98, of St. Joseph, passed away, Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Pine Ridge Nursing & Rehab in Stevensville.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 12, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Jeffrey Hubers officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Florence’s name may be made to First Congregational Church-St. Joseph or The Alzheimers Association. Florence was born December 29, 1922 in St. Joseph to George & Anna (Dunse) Beckman. On January 24, 1942, she married William G. Hill at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in St. Joseph. Florence was a life-long member of St. Peter’s and the Ladies Guild. She joined First Congregational Church after St. Peters Church closed. Florence was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother with a kind and giving heart. She devoted her life to her family as such and served as a caregiver to many of her family member in their last years. Florence enjoyed tending to her vegetable & flower gardens. She grew the most beautiful red roses. In her free-time, Florence enjoyed playing cards, bingo, coloring, and doing arts & crafts. After moving to Pine Ridge, she volunteered her time helping in the dining room. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Florence is survived by her children-Nancy Neel & Susan (David) Seaman, both of St. Joseph, Judy (Gregory) Lang of Three Oaks, three granddaughters-Andrea (Chris) Corteville, Stacey Seaman & Kiley (Steve) Dunlap-Dill; two great-grandchildren-Brady Corteville & Nikkita Marusek; and by numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William in February 2008, her son-in-law Robert “Andy” Neel and by eight siblings-Louis, Harry, Frederick, Margaret, Mable, Martin, Gladys & George.
