Eldora Ruth Lechner “Dorie”, 94, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022 at The Willows Assisted Living in St. Joseph. She was born March 30, 1928 in Chicago, IL to George and Ruth (Hagstrom) Gebhard.
Dorie worked at the Hallmark Store in St. Joseph for many years as a clerk. She also spent time volunteering for the hospital. Early in life, you could often find Dorie enjoying a night of square dancing. In later years, she spent her time socializing at the St. Joseph Senior Center.
Dorie is survived by her children, Julie Miller, William (Lorelie) Lechner, and Lori Jones; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her half-sister; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Lechner, who she married August 8, 1947 in Chicago; her grandson; six siblings; and her parents.
Services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Joseph Senior Center, www.sjlsc.org or Centrica Care, www.centricacare.org.
