Elaine A. Starrett, 57, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel in Dowagiac.
A Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11:00AM at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 4, 2022, 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Elaine’s name may be made to the Four Winds Casino. Elaine was born April 22, 1964, in Dowagiac, to Lyle and Dorothy (Ottinger) Starrett. She was proud of her Pokagon heritage as an elder. Elaine enjoyed collecting many things and loved to gamble at the Four Winds Casino. Most of all she loved her family and loved being a grandma. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family.
Elaine is survived by her children, Peter, Joe, Justin, Janet and Robert; grandchildren, Jackie Sue, Ethan, Claire, Nickolas, Peter, Jr., Josiah, Wyatt and Willow Grace; 1 great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Robin (Walter) Peterson, Lyon Ottinger, Mary Wood, Leroy Starrett, Paula (Fred) Starrett-Schoof, Mark Starrett and Orvalile Starrett; and long-time sweetheart, Dennis Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-son, Josh Townsend.
