Elaine's Obituary
Elaine Maureen Simpson, 84, of Dowagiac, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at her home in Dowagiac.
The family will receive guests from 1pm until time of celebration of life service at 2pm, Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so directly to the family.
Elaine was born February 27, 1937 in Vandalia to Lester and Cleo (Hodges) Perin. On June 28, 1953, she married Earl Simpson and they had five children. Elaine and Earl owned several businesses throughout their marriage. The first, an aquarium in the 60s and 70s and then Simpson’s Trucking in the 80s. After that, they opened Maw & Paw’s BBQ in Dowagiac, operating for about 10 years. In her free time, Elaine loved to knit; she made Christmas stockings for her family, and enjoyed making sweaters and hats for all. She truly loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, but her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Elaine will be missed by her children, Lynn (William) Spooner, Randy (Diane) Simpson, and Ricky Simpson; 13 grandchildren; numerous great and great, great grandchildren; and her brother, Elwood (Beverly) Perrin.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Earl Simpson; her sons, Mike (the late Denise) Simpson, and Ronnie Simpson; and her parents.
