Lainey's Obituary
Elaine “Lainey” Ruell passed away in South Haven, Michigan on December 17, 2023 at 70 years old. Lainey was born December 15, 1953 in South Haven, Michigan to Eldon and Blanche Ruell.
Lainey attended elementary school at Lacota School and graduated from South Haven High School in 1972. She worked at Consumers Discount in South Haven and later Pepsi Co. for many years before retiring. She enjoyed traveling with her friends to Mexico and Central America. It was during her travels that she discovered her interest in photography, taking many beautiful photos throughout her adventures. She loved baking, watching her “soaps”, caring for her many dogs over the years, spending time with friends and enjoying life on the family farm with her devoted mother, Blanche. Lainey was a wonderful aunt and always made time to go to the movies, play Nintendo and share her childhood toys and books with her niece, Lyndsay, and nephew, Cory. As they grew up and moved away, she never missed an opportunity to send a silly card to let them know how much she cared. She will truly be missed.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Blanche Ruell and her brother, Fredric Ruell.
She is survived by her niece, Lyndsay (Jon VanHamlin) Ruell of Tampa, Florida; her nephews, Cory (Hillary) Ruell of Portland, Oregon; and Joe Nelson of Portland, Oregon; her great-niece and nephewsEleanor, Simon and Henry Ruell of Portland, Oregon; her sister-in-law Marta Amar of Portland, Oregon, and many dear friends.
A private memorial service will be held in 2024. It was Elaine’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Al-Van Humane Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Filbrandt Chapel-Starks Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. To view Lainey’s personal webpage please visit; www.starksfamilyfh.com 269-637-0333.
