Edward Eugene Kinne
June 19, 1946 – December 15, 2023
Edward Eugene Kinne, 77, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Edward was born in Michigan City, Indiana to Harold and Dorothy Kinne, and was one of eight children. Edward graduated from Galien High School. He proudly served three tours in Vietnam with the US Navy. He was a dedicated, hard-working man who was employed by Paramount Die Cast, Pemco Die Cast, Allied Physicians Surgery Center, and the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2019. He enjoyed watching old western movies and golf on TV, he had an affinity for Marilyn Monroe and loved classic rock and roll music.
One day at a time for the last 25 plus years, Ed in the renaissance of his life, lived happily in St. Joseph and enjoyed nature walks, road trips, especially to Mackinac and Saint Ignace, attending church at First Church of God in St. Joseph and spending time with his companion, Christa.
Survivors include son, Craig (Tomeka) Kinne; daughter Cheryl (Justin Glenn) Kinne; grandchildren, Abigail Kinne, Trent and Claire Kinne, and Ian Glenn; siblings, Charlotte Smith, Charles (Chuck) Kinne and Alan Kinne and special companion, Christa Bythrow.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Kinne; his mother, Dorothy Myrtle (Lee) Dunker; brothers, Jack, Billy, and Earl Kinne; and sister, Kristine Ketcham.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 22, 2023 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremations Service, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Edward Kinne to the Alano House in Stevensville, Michigan.
