Earl's Obituary

Earl C. Hahn Jr., 89, of St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

Earl was born on November 9, 1932, to Dr. Earl and Nola (Smith) Hahn in Kirksville, MO. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in St. Mary’s, WV, and then continued his education earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Education from Northeast Missouri State University and a Master’s in Science Education from Truman State University.

For 36 years he loved being a teacher at various High Schools as well as an instructor at Western Michigan University.

Earl was most proud of the 46 years that he was an Athletic Director and decorated Coach of girls & boys’ basketball, football, golf and track teams. He earned many awards including Conference, District, Regional and State Championship titles as well as Coach of the Year and Induction into the Michigan High School Coaching Hall of Fame.

In Earl’s spare time he enjoyed following Lakeshore and Notre Dame athletics and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Stephen Hahn of DeBary, FL, Nolene (Greg) Ferguson of Cape Coral, FL and Anneliesa Hundt of Stevensville, MI; grandchildren, Matt (Lisa) Hahn, William Hundt, Whitney Hundt and Alana Hahn; great-grandchildren Cailey Hahn and Alex Hahn; and former wife Stephanie Mack.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Patricia Hahn.
