Duane G. Ziemke, 85, formerly of Stevensville, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in Richmond, Virginia

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, July 8, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Church & Market St., St. Joseph with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph, with graveside military rites conducted by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. Friends may visit with the family, Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. Duane was born June 26, 1937 in Benton Harbor to Herman & Ella (Winsloff) Ziemke. He graduated from St. Joseph High School, Class of 1955 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University. On April 4, 1958 he married the former Mary Lou Brown in Moultrie, GA. Duane served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, Duane gained employment with Auto Specialties Co., retiring as Chief Financial Officer after forty years. He loved his job and the people he worked with, and they all loved him. Duane was a long-time active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. In his free time, Duane enjoyed a cold beer, garage sales, vacationing, especially cruises, and most of all, the time spent with his family.

Duane is survived by his children, Debra (Mike) Miskill of St. Joseph, Linda (Alan) Showerman of Quinton, VA and Michael (Stacey) Ziemke of Benton Harbor; grandchildren Trina Lawrence, Matthew Gilbert, Robert Miskill, Kevin Colbert, Jr., Cris Showerman, Tiffany Yandle, Alex Ziemke and Sydney Ziemke; great- grandchildren Hailey, Hayden, Ella, Walker, Camryn, Alexia, Kevin III, Olivia, Witten, Wriston, Owen, Liam, and two on the way; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Lou on July 15, 2019, his sister Delores Grau and his brother Donald Ziemke.
